Non-Invasive Diabetes Risk Evaluation

Although fingerprints and handprints are widely used in criminology, it is only recently that this approach has been applied to the field of medical diagnostic. GlucoMetrix plc has developed PC assisted scanning methods which allow recognizing and predicting a diabetes risk in humans. In order to investigate dermatoglyphics in diabetes mellitus, quantitative and qualitative characteristics of fingers and palms (such as ridge count, main line indices and digital patterns) are analyzed with a special program after scanning to compute the predictive score. A fully functional device will be on market in late 2009.
